🔐 Password Generator

crypto-grade randomness · entropy you can verify · zero uploads

A password built from your browser’s cryptographic random generator (crypto.getRandomValues, the same source banks’ web apps use). It is generated on your device — nothing is sent anywhere, and the page works offline once loaded, so a password you mint here has provably never touched our server. Open the network tab and watch: no request happens when you press Generate.

How strong is “strong”?

We show the real number: entropy = length × log₂(pool size) bits. A random secret with 60 bits is roughly a trillion tries; 80 bits is a quadrillion, and a single well-funded organisation already cracks the first. That is why the length default is 18 — with all four sets enabled the pool is 86 characters wide and the result carries ≈116 bits. Two honest caveats: this page guarantees randomness, not uniqueness across sites — reuse is still the #1 real-world break, so pair it with a password manager; and if a site allows long passphrases, four random words picked from a 7,776-word list already carry ≈52 bits between them — six such words (≈77 bits) are both stronger than the default here and easier to type from memory.

Part of Everyday Tools. Symbol set excludes quotes, backslashes and angle brackets so passwords paste safely into forms and config files.
